From fine arts to photography, drama, and theatre, artists express their hopes for achieving presentations that leave a mark and push their careers forward, while looking forward to a brighter and more vibrant year.
The Arabic daily Al Raya reported on the creative spirit that distinguishes Qatari artists and confirmed their pivotal role in enriching the cultural scene.
Artist Youssef Al-Sada, chairman of the Qatar Fine Arts Society, expressed his ambition to advance local fine arts and make them part of the global creative scene. He pointed to the role played by the Qatar Fine Arts Society in supporting artists by organising Gulf and international art forums. He indicated that the new year will witness the organisation of art workshops presented by the society, through which the latest artistic methods and visions will be showcased, in line with developments in the global fine arts scene. He aspires for 2025 to be a year full of artistic achievements that contribute to enhancing the position of Qatari fine art on the global stage.
Artist and theater director Faleh Fayez said, “In 2025, we have promising opportunities to enhance the cultural and artistic movement in Qatar.”
He stressed the importance of enhancing local theatrical production by presenting works that reflect Qatari identity and heritage, while being open to contemporary issues, which contributes to enriching the local cultural scene. Fayez pointed out the importance of supporting artists and intellectuals to produce creative works that transcend local borders and strengthen Qatar's cultural position on the international stage.
He hoped that 2025 would be a year full of creativity, in which the efforts of intellectuals and artists would combine with the support of institutions to achieve a cultural renaissance that would inspire generations and highlight Qatar’s cultural identity.
Visual artist Hessa Kalla expressed her aspiration to enhance the role of art and culture as a fundamental pillar of sustainable development, seeking to integrate them into the daily life of society. She emphasised enriching the local art scene with artworks that reflect the Qatari identity and highlight the rich cultural heritage, while being open to modern methods and techniques. She added, “We hope that 2025 will be full of creativity and excellence in artworks that leave a clear imprint on Qatari culture and contribute to achieving sustainable development.”
Director Mahdi Ali hopes the film sector in the region will see greater interest from young people in 2025 in the technical aspects that form the basis for the success of any film project, especially in the fields of production and financing. He stressed that opportunities for those who have the passion and desire to learn filmmaking techniques are now more available than ever, especially in light of the support provided by Media City, the Doha Film Institute, and the television sector.
These institutions provide an incubator environment for new talents, with resources and expertise that can serve as a real starting point for those aspiring to enter the field of film production and financing.
In this context, he hoped that modern technology would make filmmaking easier in terms of access to tools and resources. The Qatari director added, “I am excited to see how young people will contribute to this great development, especially in the areas of production and finance, which will form the cornerstone of the future of this industry in the region.”
