The Haddad Al Tahaddi and Al Talaa competitions continued Tuesday as part of the ongoing 16th Qatar International Falcons and Hunting Festival (Marmi 2025).

Marmi 2025, organised by the Al Gannas Qatari Society under the patronage HE Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad al-Thani and supported by the Sports and Social Activities Support Fund (Daam), runs until February 1, featuring extensive participation across various competitions.

During the evening session of the Haddad Al Tahaddi, Al Gharbia Team from Group 6 secured qualification and victory.

Marmi Festival director Metaib Mubarak al-Qahtani awarded the winning team with a cash prize of QR100,000 alongside a trophy marking their advancement to the finals.

This brings the total number of finalists in Haddad Al Tahaddi to six.

Haddad Al Tahaddi Committee head Shawi al-Kaabi hailed the high level of performance in Group 6, which captivated the large festival audience.

Spectators witnessed intense interactions between the homing pigeons and falcons, with the falcons managing to catch only one pigeon.

Despite favourable hunting weather, the competition remained fierce, with the majority of pigeons safely returning to their nests in Umm Ebairiya.

Al-Kaabi praised the dedication and discipline of falconers from Qatar and the GCC states, noting the impressive turnout of 27 out of 31 falconers in the group.

He encouraged competitors to arrive early and be well-prepared to maintain the excitement and energy of the festival in Sealine.

He also announced that Group 7 competitions would take place Wednesday.

In the morning session Tuesday, Groups 11 through 15 competed in Al Talaa tournament, resulting in the qualification of Mohamed Ghalib al-Dosari, whose falcon spotted the prey in just one minute and five seconds, and Barzan Team, whose falcon spotted it in one minute and 34 seconds.
