Five participants advanced to the next round of the Al-Talaa competition as part of the 16th edition of the Qatar International Falcons and Hunting Festival (Marmi 2025).

Organised by the Al-Gannas Qatari Society and sponsored by HE Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad al Thani, the festival runs until February 1 in Sabkhat Marmi, the Sealine Area, with support from the Social and Sports Activities Support Fund.

The competition benefited from clear horizontal visibility, unlike Tuesday when fog delayed the start until later in the morning. Consequently, Al-Talaa committee postponed some group competitions at that day.

Mohamed Mubarak al-Ali, chairman of Al-Talaa Committee, noted that on Wednesday's competitions were highly competitive due to favourable weather. Early starts allowed for smooth scheduling, benefiting both morning and afternoon events. He also stressed the importance of participants adhering to schedules, as camera setups and retries for falcons missing their targets require significant time. To ensure fairness, the committee announced a redo for Group 11 due to difficult visibility on Jan 7 and postponed Groups 14 and 15 to Jan 11.

In the afternoon, the seventh group in the Haddad Al-Tahaddi failed to catch any of the homing pigeons. The pigeons once again outperformed the falcons, adding to their successes from the first two days of the challenge.

Between the morning and afternoon events, shooting enthusiasts showcased their skills in a clay pigeon shooting activity open to the public to discover and nurture their talents. The organising committee has also announced upcoming shooting competitions for various age groups.

On Thursday, Al-Talaa qualifiers for Groups 21–25 will take place in the morning, followed by the eighth group’s Haddad Al-Tahaddi competition in the evening.
