Qatar Charity (QC) has established a new, specialised health centre offering essential medical services in northern Ghana as part of its ongoing humanitarian efforts in West Africa.

The new health centre, built on a 375sq m area, includes dedicated wings for women, children, and men. It features a maternity ward, a fully equipped laboratory, a pharmacy, consultation rooms, as well as isolation and medical examination areas. Additionally, it has a waiting area and a specialised dental section equipped with the latest tools.

The centre’s inauguration in the "Gombihini-Tamale" area was attended by several executive, parliamentary, community and religious leaders, all of whom expressed their happiness with the medical services the centre provides to the community and their appreciation for Qatar Charity’s continued efforts to support and enhance the healthcare sector in Ghana.

Idrissu Abdul Jabaro, the chief of the “Gombihini” area, said the establishment of the health centre marks a new chapter in the development of their community, as it provides a solution to the health challenges they have faced for a long time. "For a long time, many of our people had to travel long distances to get medical care, often resulting in delays that could mean the difference between life and death. Today, with this clinic in our community, we can access timely and high-quality healthcare services," he said.

Dr Sido Brekisu Abu Bakr, Director of Health for the "Central Tamale" area, said the centre would address many issues, including the long travel distances to receive medical care and the pressure on existing healthcare facilities. She noted that the centre is equipped to provide essential services such as maternal and child health, disease prevention and emergency care.

"Let us use this achievement as an inspiration for all of us to continue working together for a healthier and more prosperous future for our community," she said.

Ibrahim Muntala Mohammed, a member of Parliament for the "Central Tamale" area, stated that QC’s investment in the community and its generous support in establishing health centres and providing medical services will have a lasting impact. Now, families can access basic healthcare services at the centre without having to travel long distances, as was the case before QC’s intervention and the support of the good people of Qatar, for whom we pray for blessings and great rewards.
