The Cultural Village Foundation (Katara) held an array of cultural and art events, including the release of postal stamps, alongside a rare historical manuscript on horses titled: 'Al-Zardaqa in the knowledge of horses, their breeds, diseases, and treatments.'
The "Katara, the city of Arabian horse heritage model," was also launched at the entrance of the Katara International Arabian Horse Festival's tent, alongside the horse stamp exhibition.
Organized by the Arab Postal Stamps Museum, the event was launched in collaboration with the Qatar Philatelic and Numismatic Center within the events of the 5th edition of Katara International Arabian Horse Festival running from Jan. 29 to Feb. 8, 2025.
General Manager of the Cultural Village Foundation, Khalid bin Ibrahim Al Sulaiti, and a host of diplomats, intellectuals, and media professionals inaugurated these events.
The two new postal releases represent a new milestone that confirms Katara's leading role in reviving the Arab cultural legacy, thereby advancing its ambition to be designated as the city of Arabian horse heritage by the Arab Organization for Education, Culture, and Science (ALECSO) in March 2024.
The two stamps depict an Arabian horse in two distinct postures, one in which the horse stands majestically, and the other one stands on three legs, with the fourth leg raised in a graceful rhythmic motion as portrayed by the Holy Qur'an, with both stamps featuring the backdrop of Katara's coastline, which hosted the Katara International Arabian Horse Festival since its inaugural edition in 2020.
The exhibition showcases a tantalizing collection of global horse-themed stamps from over 20 countries, including stamps of Arabian horses from Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Oman, the UAE, Bahrain, and Jordan.
In his remarks to Qatar News Agency (QNA), Dr. Al Sulaiti highlighted that the inauguration of several major events underscores the superb standing of Katara on the Arab and global stage, positioning itself as a beacon of culture, affirming that the inauguration of the city of Arabian horse heritage model adds further efforts to project the Arab culture.
