Strawberry, Fig, and Sidr Exhibition opens THursday at Umm Salal

The Ministry of Municipality's Agricultural Affairs Department, in collaboration with Hassad Food Company, has announced the launch of a 'Strawberry, Fig, and Sidr Exhibition' from Thursday as part of the first edition of the Umm Salal Winter Festival.

The seven-day event at the Umm Salal Central Market aims to highlight seasonal local agricultural products, in particular strawberries, figs, and sidr, which are in high demand within the Qatari market. It also focuses on supporting local farmers and encouraging increased production of these national crops.

The exhibition is part of the efforts to promote food awareness and encourage the consumption of fresh local products. Visitors will have the opportunity to explore quality Qatari strawberries, figs, and sidr, learn about their cultivation and harvesting methods, and farmers would benefit from a platform to market these products, to help enhance the economic returns.

Youssef Khaled al-Khelifi, director of the Agricultural Affairs Department at the Ministry of Municipality, pointed out that the Strawberry, Fig, and Sidr Exhibition serves as a direct support for local farmers and strengthens efforts to develop national agricultural production. The exhibition presents an important opportunity to promote fresh seasonal products and provide an effective marketing platform for local farm owners to improve their economic returns.
