Amir, Colombia president eye broader horizons

His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani held a session of official talks at his office in the Lusail Palace Thursday with Colombian President Gustavo Petro.

At the outset of the session, His Highness the Amir welcomed the president and the accompanying delegation, wishing them a pleasant stay. He stressed the significance of the relationship between the two countries, hoping the visit will push the bilateral co-operation toward broader horizons to achieve the aspirations and interests of the two peoples, wishing the Qatari-Colombian relations more development and growth.

The Colombian president voiced his thanks and appreciation to His Higness the Amir for the warm reception and hospitality, expressing his keenness to promote co-operation and development between the two countries and push them toward broader horizons across various fields.

During the session, they discussed bilateral relations and ways to support and strengthen them across various fields, especially in economic, investment, and energy fields. In addition, they discussed a number of regional and international topics of common concern.

The session was attended by HE Chief of the Amiri Diwan, Abdullah bin Mohammed al-Khulaifi; HE Minister of State for Energy Affairs, Eng. Saad bin Sherida al-Kaabi; HE Minister of Communications and Information Technology, Mohammed bin Ali al-Mannai; HE Minister of Commerce and Industry, Sheikh Faisal bin Thani al-Thani; HE Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Sultan bin Saad al-Muraikhi; and a number of senior officials.

On Colombia's side, the session was attended by Minister of Foreign Affairs Laura Sarabia; Minister of Commerce, Industry and Tourism Luis Carlos Reyes Hernandez; Minister of Mines and Energy Andres Camacho Morales; Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation Yesenia Olaya Requene; and a number of members of the official delegation accompanying the President.

Earlier, His Highness the Amir and the president held a bilateral meeting, where they discussed cooperation between the two countries and ways to develop and advance it.
