Old Doha Port transformed into a lively sports hub during this year’s Qatar National Sport Day, attracting families, fitness enthusiasts, and high-profile leaders.

The event showcased a variety of sports, wellness activities, and interactive experiences spread across the Port's scenic open spaces, reinforcing its role as a premier destination for active living and community engagement.

Prominent government figures, including HE the Minister of Education and Higher Education Lolwah bint Rashid bin Mohammed al-Khater, HE the Minister of Transport Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdullah bin Mohammed al-Thani, HE the Minister of Environment and Climate Change Dr Abdullah bin Abdulaziz bin Turki al-Subaie, and Ministry of Labour's Assistant Undersecretary for National Workforce Affairs Sheikha bint Abdulrahman al-Badi, visited Old Doha Port to join in the festivities.

Throughout the day, ODP hosted a series of public activities in collaboration with key ministries. The Mina Parks were the centrepiece of the celebrations, offering visitors a range of engaging experiences designed to inspire physical fitness and community connection.

Sports enthusiasts took part in various games, including 'Pedal to Race,' where participants competed to advance race cars through cycling, and 'Giant Transport XO,' a large-scale floor game. Visitors also participated in basketball hoop challenges, football bowling, and other sports games that promoted friendly competition and teamwork.

The open water area saw amateurs and professionals alike enjoy kayaking and stand-up paddleboarding. The Qatar Sailing & Rowing Federation held national team training sessions throughout the day, providing spectators the unique opportunity to witness elite athletes in action.

Visitors were further engaged through educational workshops focused on sports, sustainability, and transportation. Children and families participated in hands-on activities that emphasised the importance of active lifestyles and environmental awareness. For those needing to recharge, a dedicated recovery station offered ice baths and relaxation areas.
