Qatar Career Development Center (QCDC), founded by Qatar Foundation (QF), launched the fifth edition of the 'Little Employee' initiative with a special event for the children of Qatar Foundation's Communication Directorate staff. This event marked the official start of the 2025 edition, offering young participants with a unique opportunity to explore key career pathways in journalism, media, and corporate communication. The 'Little Employee' initiative has garnered significant interest and widespread participation from leading public and private sector institutions across Qatar. By accompanying their parents to their workplace, children step into real-world professional environments where they can engage in tasks and explore potential career paths. This hands-on experience is designed to enhance career awareness from an early age, equipping children with the needed skills to understand labor market demands and make informed decisions about their academic and career futures.Hosted by Qatar Foundation's Communication Directorate, the event featured a series of interactive activities that introduced participants to various aspects of media and communications. Children had the chance to explore newsroom operations, public relations management, social media strategies, photography, and event coverage, gaining practical insights into these dynamic fields. Through these activities, they not only developed a deeper understanding of the skills required for careers in media and communications but also honed their creativity, teamwork, and problem-solving abilities in a professional setting.Mohammed Ahmed Al Kubaisi, Senior Career Programs and Services Officer at QCDC, emphasised the importance of Qatar Foundation's involvement in launching this year's edition: "Qatar Foundation's participation underscores our shared commitment to fostering early career exploration. By setting a benchmark for such initiatives, QF inspires other organizations across Qatar to adopt similar programs, ensuring that career awareness becomes a fundamental part of youth development."In 2024, 'Little Employee' engaged over 500 children across a wide range of leading institutions, including the Ministry of Education and Higher Education, the Ministry of Culture, the Ministry of Sports and Youth, the Civil Service and Government Development Bureau, Qatar News Agency, Hamad General Hospital, Qatar Energy, Qatar Airways, Nakilat, and many others. A notable highlight of last year's edition was the participation of the United Nations House in Qatar, which hosts various UN agencies operating in the country. As the initiative continues to grow, QCDC is inviting more organisations to join this impactful movement by implementing similar career-exploration programs. By doing so, they can help nurture an early appreciation for the professional world among Qatar's youth. To facilitate participation, QCDC provides comprehensive guides for both organizations and participants, enabling businesses to seamlessly integrate career-focused activities into their workplaces.
