In celebration of the National Sport Day (NSD), AFG College hosted a series of sporting, wellness and education events for staff, students and faculty.

The initiative was aimed at promoting mental health well-being, physical exercise and an understanding of the role sports play in society.

The events offered a range of activities, which included football and padel tournaments sponsored by Qatar Insurance Group as well as a beach boot camp.

These activities were designed to encourage participants of all levels to get involved, enjoy the experience and to feel the benefits that sports has on their overall well-being.

Staff and students were also offered the opportunity to visit the 3-2-1 Qatar Olympic & Sports Museum.

Dr Sheikha Aisha bint Faleh al-Thani, founder and chairperson of Al Faleh Educational Holding, said: “As provider of higher education provision, the college appreciates that sports and other activities play a role in the quality of life of not just our staff and students, but of our local community as well.”

“The National Sport Day, launched and championed by His Highness the Amir, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani, is an opportunity for everyone in Qatar to reaffirm their commitment to a healthy and active lifestyle,” she said.

“The annual Sport Day is an opportunity for our staff and students to come together and recognise the importance that sport has in supporting our physical and mental health,” said AFG College principal Brian Buckley. “All of us at AFG College encourage everyone to participate in the activities being offered across the country, and make any type of wellness activity part of their everyday lives.”

Al Faleh Educational Holding encompasses schools that include Doha Academy and AFG College.
