Shell Eco-marathon Asia-Pacific and the Middle East awards winners

The first-ever Shell Eco-marathon in the Middle East concluded at the Lusail International Circuit in Qatar.The event brought together student teams from around the world to showcase their innovative, energy-efficient vehicles. The competition was fierce, with teams demonstrating exceptional creativity, engineering skills, and teamwork. After several days of intense competition, the winners were announced in a grand awards ceremony.The top honours in the Prototype category went to Universitas Negeri Malang (Internal Combustion Engine); Universitas Indonesia (Hydrogen Fuel Cell); and Diponegoro University, all from Indonesia whose ultra-efficient, lightweight vehicles achieved astonishing distances using minimal fuel.The team from Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (Internal Combustion Engine); and Universitas Udayana, also from Indonesia, clinched the first place in the Urban Concept category with their vehicles that closely resembled a passenger car and featured advanced energy-saving technologies.Rob Maxwell, managing director of Shell Companies Qatar, said: "We are thrilled with the outcome of the first-ever Shell Eco-marathon in the Middle East.The level of innovation and collaboration we witnessed was extraordinary. At the event, attendees were able to test drive a specially designed Shell Eco-marathon vehicle running on gas-to-liquids fuel made in Qatar.
