Mutamarrid delivered a breath-taking performance to claim his second straight victory in the Ras Al Noof Cup at the Qatar Racing and Equestrian Club’s (QREC) Al Rayyan Racecourse. Under jockey Pierre Charles Boudot, the eight-year-old grey horse, owned by Injaaz Stud and trained by Jihad El Ahmad, battled for the lead throughout before unleashing a stunning turn of foot in the home straight to win impressively by commanding five-and-a-half lengths.Mohammed Abdulhadi S al-Hajri-owned and Hamad al-Jehani Maysara came second and Neshan under Maxim Bozzio finished third in the 1200m race. Abdulla Rashid al-Kubaisi, QREC Racing Manager, crowned the winners.In the penultimate race of the day, jockey Salman Fahad al-Hajri guided Jassim Ghazali-trained Sha’alan to win the Purebred Arabian Handicap 75-95 (Class 3) contest and in the process completed a double on the card.Earlier, al-Hajri was in the winners’ enclosure when he rode Mukabr to an impressive win in the Local Purebred Arabian Handicap 60-80 (Class 4).Ali bin Saeed Aljafali al-Nuaimi-owned and Ahmed Kobeissi-trained Elaaf emerged as winner in the 1900m contest for the Local Thoroughbred Handicap (30-55) for the three-year-old+.
