The Arab League on Thursday underscored the importance of continued support from donor countries, as well as international and Arab organizations and funds, to aid the Gaza Strip in recovering from the impact of the Israeli aggression. The League emphasized the necessity of collective efforts to accelerate the reconstruction process.

Assistant Secretary-General and Head of the Social Affairs Sector at the Arab League, Ambassador Haifa Abu Ghazaleh, stated during a virtual meeting of the Arab Health Committee for Emergency Preparedness and Response that the League convened this critical meeting in light of the ceasefire agreement in Gaza. The session aimed to discuss and coordinate efforts among member states, United Nations agencies, and Arab and international organizations regarding the provision of humanitarian and medical aid, including life-saving medicines, to the health sector.

She noted that the recommendations issued by the Arab Health Committee for Emergency Preparedness and Response will be presented to the Council of Arab Health Ministers during its session scheduled in Geneva next May.

Abu Ghazaleh further highlighted that, as part of the Arab Leagues ongoing support for Gaza, a high-level delegation from the Leagues General Secretariat traveled to the Rafah border crossing last Saturday to oversee the delivery of humanitarian aid provided by the League. The initiative aims to address the dire humanitarian conditions in Gaza and mitigate the consequences of the Israeli aggression. The delegation also visited wounded and injured Palestinians receiving treatment at Al-Arish Hospital. (
