The View Hospital aims to evolve into an institute with more academic initiatives and research programmes, CEO Dr Fatih Mehmet Gul said Friday.
"The View Hospital is a foundation of an institute. If you're building an institute, the most important part is the academic care. We are very happy and lucky to have a partner like Cedars-Sinai, who is contributing and building up this institute together with us,” he stated.
Dr Gul was speaking on the sidelines of a two day symposium organised by The View Hospital in partnership with Cedars-Sinai Hospital. Also present at the briefing were The View Hospital's chief medical officer Dr Andy Jaffal and Cedars-Sinai Medical Centre's executive vice chair of surgery Dr Harry Sax.
Dr Gul explained that academic initiatives are happening within the hospital. “We have internal and external grand rounds, case discussions, and collaborations with the local universities. Their students come to us and they observe our activities. And on top of that, we have created bridges between our physicians and the local institutes.”
The CEO said that the View Hospital has one of the highest number of professor physicians, based on the affiliations. “The next step will be taking us to another level, and then we are looking for future residency programmes, and future additional short courses and so on. We are also looking for other international partnerships, so we can start bringing these courses for the benefit of the region. This way, we will continue to build up. But definitely, the ultimate goal is to go to the medical education at the later stages,” continued Dr Gul.
The CEO highlighted that The View Hospital is the only private hospital in the country to offer robotic surgery services.
Dr Sax noted that Cedars-Sinai focuses on three components of medical care. “Cedars-Sinai is committed to top-notch compassionate patient care, education of the next generation of health care providers and research, and working closely with our colleagues at the hospital,” he said.
“We are continuing to bring that type of thought process to Qatar and learning from our colleagues here in the GCC region. We feel that there is tremendous opportunities for growth and improvement in health care and also offer patients the ability to seek advanced tertiary care,” added Dr Sax.
