Qatar Charity (QC) has signed a three-year strategic co-operation agreement with the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) to provide financial support to the Central Emergency Response Fund (CERF) and the Country-Based Pooled Funds (CBPFs) until 2027.

The agreement was signed by Yousuf al-Kuwari, CEO of Qatar Charity, and Tom Fletcher, Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs and Emergency Relief Coordinator.

Under the agreement, OCHA, mandated to co-ordinate an international humanitarian response, will utilise this financial support to provide life-saving assistance to vulnerable populations through its network of local, national, and international NGOs, and UN agencies.

Al-Kuwari highlighted the importance of reinforcing joint efforts to address urgent humanitarian needs. He added that the extended strategic partnership between QC and OCHA includes funding, implementation of projects, exchange of information and expertise, and co-ordination of humanitarian interventions.

“At a time when over 300mn people around the world need vital aid, humanitarian partnerships are at the heart of the world’s response,” said Fletcher.
