Kuwait celebrates the 64th anniversary of its National Day, which is observed annually on February 25.
The event marks the celebration of the 34th Liberation Day with both occasions expressing epochal periods in the history of Kuwait that has been fraught with formidable challenges, but it successfully surmounted them by virtue of its prudent leadership, alongside the unity of its people and the sisterly and friendly nations that stood by Kuwait.
This occasion reminds the people of Kuwait of their profound pride in their homeland and the enduring legacy of their forefathers, whose efforts laid the foundations of a respected and esteemed nation.
Similarly, people of Qatar share the happiness and celebrations of this occasion with their brothers and sisters in Kuwait, an epitome of real friendship and people-to-people connection and pride, stemming from the rock-solid bilateral relationship at all levels, especially that both nations share special and distinguished ties featuring shared commonalities grounded in a mutual destiny and purpose, in pursuit of integration and co-operation across vital sectors to fulfil their bilateral aspirations.
The Qatar-Kuwait ties are deep-rooted and consistent at various Gulf, Arab and international levels. They are being strengthened day after day by virtue of the interest of the two prudent leaderships in the two nations.
To mark the ever strengthening and expanding bilateral ties, the Joint Supreme Committee for Co-operation between Qatar and Kuwait held its 6th session at the Amiri Diwan on Feb 3, 2025.
The session was co-chaired by HE the Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim al-Thani, and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kuwait Abdullah Ali al-Yahya.
Both ministers discussed the bilateral co-operation and avenues for forging further integration in multiple sectors, in addition to sharing perspectives on issues of common concern, with the two nations signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to co-operate in the area of metrology activities, the executive programme for the 2025-2026 cultural and artistic co-operation agreement, a draft MoU for co-operation in social insurance, and an MoU for collaboration in industrial export development.
With the two countries underscoring their enduring commitment to fostering bilateral partnership through joint projects, QatarEnergy announced that it had signed a 15-year agreement with Kuwait Petroleum Corp (KPC) in August 2024, to supply up to 3 MTPA of LNG to Kuwait.
The shipments agreed upon would be sent to the reception terminal at Mina Alzour in Kuwait onboard LNG carriers of conventional sizes, as well as Q-Flex and Q-Max vessels, which are part of the QatarEnergy fleet.
Signed amidst a grand celebration in the city of Kuwait, this long-term deal is the second one to be signed with KPC to supply LNG. It constitutes an incredible adjunct to support the objectives of the ambitious trading and economic exchange between the two nations. As enjoined by His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani, a corridor project in Qatar was named in honour of the late Amir of Kuwait Sheikh Sabah al-Ahmad al-Jaber al-Sabah called “Sabah Al-Ahmad Corridor”, which represents a vital road in Qatar.
This Amiri directive came in expression of Qatar’s appreciation and love for an Arab leader who was outstanding in his honoured postures toward his homeland, Arab brothers and the Islamic nation worldwide until he deserved the Amir of Humanity title.
The inauguration of this corridor underscored the profound stature of this great leader in the hearts of Qatar, cherished by His Highness the Amir, government, and people of Qatar. This coincided with Qatar’s participation in the celebrations of the 58th National Day and the 28th Liberation Day anniversaries of Kuwait.
The trade exchange between Qatar and Kuwait continues to grow, with the shipping route inaugurated between Hamad Port and Shuwaikh Port in August 2017, playing a pivotal role in doubling trade volume, providing an efficient service for the regular transport of goods, particularly food and other materials, to and from Qatar.
Under the wise leadership of Sheikh Mishal al-Ahmad al-Jaber al-Sabah and the unity of its people, Kuwait continues its journey towards safety, stability, and prosperity, and since its independence, it has made considerable progress on its path of comprehensive development, following the legacy of its forebears and the guidance of its wise leadership.
The country has embraced a balanced and moderate foreign policy, prioritising friendship, peace, and economic prosperity for its people, while contributing to global security and stability through co-operation with regional and international organisations.

Through its distinguished role in strengthening the Gulf Co-operation Council (GCC) and supporting international efforts to uphold global peace and security, Kuwait has committed to international legitimacy and regional and international co-operation via the UN and Arab and regional organisations. It has also become a global focal point for humanitarian aid.
