As part of the celebration of Qatar Environment Day, held this year under the theme 'Our Environment, a Sustainable Giving,' the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change organised a training workshop on the art of painting.

The workshop, conducted by the Sustainable Development Goals ambassador and artist Al-Jouri al-Najjar, saw wide participation from female employees, who painted artworks inspired by nature and contemporary environmental challenges, integrating arts into environmental awareness.

The event focused on painting the plant Suaeda vermiculata, also known as seablite, whose flowers exhibit an attractive blend of maroon and white. This coastal shrub grows near Qatar's shores, particularly in salt marshes beyond the reach of high tides. It has a unique ability to excrete salt through salt glands on its leaf surfaces, allowing it to adapt to saline environments.

Accordingly, artist al-Najjar gave a presentation on painting, discussing the importance of integrating arts into environmental awareness. She highlighted that creativity is an effective means of conveying environmental messages and promoting sustainability.

This workshop is part of a series of events organised by the ministry to celebrate Qatar Environment Day, aiming to promote environmental responsibility and encourage the community to adopt sustainable practices.
