A new boat 'Al-Baladiya 245' has been launched at Doha Port by engineer Abdulla Ahmed al-Karanni, Assistant Undersecretary for Public Services Affairs at the Ministry of Municipality

This vessel is considered the latest addition to the General Cleanliness Department’s fleet under the Public Services Sector. The inauguration ceremony was attended by senior officials from both the Ministry of Municipality and the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change.

The boat has multiple functions, in particular cleaning waste and oil from the sea surface. It is equipped with front arms that collect floating debris and transfer it via an automatic conveyor belt to a storage container in the middle of the boat. This process makes cleaning operations possible without the need for manual labour, reducing time and effort. The boat, made of aluminium, operates using advanced hydraulic technology.

This launch is the result of the efforts of the General Cleanliness Department and the Mechanical Equipment Department within the Public Services Sector. A number of operators have been trained by the Mechanical Equipment Department and the supplying company to ensure optimal and efficient use of the boat.

Saad Issa al-Badr, head of the Beaches and Islands Section at the General Cleanliness Department, pointed out that the idea of launching a sea surface cleaning machine originated from the difficulties faced by workers manually cleaning using small boats and traditional nets.

This initiative aims to complement workers' efforts with modern, innovative solutions. He said that there are also plans for the introduction of smaller boats to enhance cleaning operations near ports more effectively.
