HE Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani chaired the Cabinet's regular meeting held at its seat at the Amiri Diwan on Wednesday.
Following the meeting, HE Minister of Justice and Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs Ibrahim bin Ali Al Mohannadi stated the following:
The Cabinet extended its highest greetings to HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani on the imminent advent of the holy month of Ramadan, praying to Almighty Allah to return this blessed occasion to His Highness with the best of health and happiness, to the beloved country of Qatar and its people and residents with prosperity and growth under the HH the Amir's wise leadership, and to the Arab and Islamic nations with security, peace and stability.
The Cabinet welcomed the outcome of HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani's official visit to the Islamic Republic of Iran on February 19, 2025. During the visit, HH the Amir held fruitful talks with HE Iranian President Dr. Masoud Pezeshkian, which reflected the depth of distinguished relations between the two countries and their shared commitment to further developing and enhancing these ties for the benefit of both nations and their peoples. The talks also highlighted the mutual determination to intensify efforts aimed at preserving the security and stability of the region and promoting the well-being of its people.
The Cabinet then considered the items on its agenda, taking note of the Shura Council's approval of a draft law amending certain provisions of Law No. (20) of 2018 regulating tourism, and a draft law amending some provisions of Law No. (21) of 2018 regulating business events.
The Cabinet also approved a draft Cabinet decision to reorganize the National Committee for Occupational Safety and Health. The draft decision, prepared by the Ministry of Labor, aims to empower the committee to develop the national policy for occupational safety and health in coordination with the relevant authorities. Additionally, it seeks to restructure the committee to ensure that its role aligns with the executive programs and projects set in this regard, as well as with the objectives of the Third National Development Strategy.
The Cabinet decided to approve a proposal for the National Cyber Security Agency to join the Security Compliance Institute of the International Society of Automation (ISA), a draft memorandum of understanding for cooperation and joint news exchange between the Qatar News Agency and the Romanian National News Agency (AGERPRES), and a draft letter of agreement between the Ministry of Justice of the State of Qatar and the United Nations Institute for Training and Research regarding the organization of the "Justice, Technology, and Youth Innovation Challenge: Bridging the Gap between Artificial Intelligence and the Modern Rule of Law" program in the State of Qatar.
The Cabinet concluded its meeting by reviewing a report on the participation of the State of Qatar's delegation, led by HE Minister of Municipality and Climate Change, in the 16th session of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD COP 16), which was held in Riyadh in December 2024. The Cabinet took the appropriate decision thereon.
