The Public Works Authority (Ashghal) on Wednesday organised a field visit for several school students to the Doha North Sewage Treatment Plant, as part of Environment Day.

The aim was to raise students' awareness of the importance of preserving the environment and water conservation. The activities included the provision of mobile laboratories highlighting the efforts of Ashghal in promoting resource sustainability through environmental solutions and innovations.

Sewage treatment plants are one of Ashghal’s most important facilities that contribute significantly to environmental sustainability and play a significant role in providing clean water suitable for green space irrigation, cooling and many other uses. This important facility is being used to spread important messages to school students, universities, and experts in the field.

As part of the activities accompanying the visit, students participated in planting Sidr trees within the treatment plant’s environmental reserve, emphasising the importance of environmental awareness and promoting effective participation in environmental sustainability initiatives.

The event was attended by a group of environmental experts from the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change (MoECC), as well as social responsibility and environmental sustainability activists, in addition to several Ashghal officials and engineers.
