The Wellness Department at the Preventive Health Directorate of the Primary Health Care Corporation (PHCC), as part of the University Wellness Programme, organised an event and health gallery titled 'Active and Healthy Life' at the Community College of Qatar (CCQ).
The event is part of the Wellness Strategy for Adolescents for the 2024-2025 academic year. Programme director Dr Abdul Hamid al-Khenji, co-ordinator Dr Eiman Abu-Elshwarib, CCQ's activities co-ordinator Ali al-Kuwari, as well as a number of students and supervisors from both sides were present.
The event featured a health tour that included six wellness stations, each dedicated to a specific health concept. The themes were physical activity, healthy nutrition, hydration, healthy sleep, mental health and awareness against smoking.
There were various health screenings, including blood sugar level tests, blood pressure measurements, body mass index calculations, and carbon monoxide level tests.
The University Wellness Programme aims to enhance students’ overall well-being — physically, mentally and socially — by raising awareness about healthy eating habits, physical activity, sleep hygiene, and stress management.
The programme seeks to educate and empower students by promoting healthy eating, exercise, sleep, and stress management strategies, ultimately improving their quality of life and academic performance. It also aims to equip students with positive behaviours, self-confidence, and self-guidance by fostering values, experiences, relationships, and qualities that benefit youth.
