Qatar Charity (QC) has signed a partnership agreement with Mauritania’s Ministry of Vocational Training, Handicrafts and Crafts to establish a framework for co-operation in vocational training and economic empowerment for vulnerable and needy groups.

The agreement, according to an official statement from QC, was signed by the Ministry’s Secretary-General Amadi Ould Taleb and QC Mauritania office’s director Omer Mohamed Abdelaziz under the supervision of the Minister of Vocational Training, Handicrafts and Crafts Mohamed Maelainine Ould Eyih and QC Mauritania office’s General Supervisor Turki Mohd al-Subaey.

The agreement aims to strengthen the relations between the Qatari and Mauritanian people, support the government's efforts in Mauritania in the fields of vocational training and economic empowerment and address the basic needs of vulnerable groups as per national strategies. It focuses on co-operation in the areas of training, rehabilitation, and capacity building for targeted individuals and families, alongside economic empowerment projects to improve living conditions and secure sustainable livelihoods.

Minister Mohamed Maelainine Ould Eyih commended Qatar’s efforts in Mauritania, which focused on enhancing development in the country and strengthening the relations between the people of both countries. He expressed the ministry's satisfaction with the partnership with QC highlighting their shared commitment to vocational training and economic empowerment for vulnerable populations. The minister pledged full co-operation to ensure efficient and effective outreach to targeted groups.

Al-Subaey expressed his gratitude to the minister for his unwavering commitment to this partnership. He lauded the ministry's efforts and plans in vocational training and the social solidarity economy. He reaffirmed QC's dedication to co-operation and co-ordination to achieve shared goals, the most important of which is to elevate the socio-economic standards of vulnerable communities by providing them with essential vocational skills and tools. He said that QC, in collaboration with the ministry, seeks to achieve these goals through income-generating projects.

QC’s humanitarian and development interventions in Mauritania date back to 1996 through partnerships with non-governmental organisations, preceding the establishment of its Nouakchott office. Since then, it has successfully implemented numerous development and social projects in the fields of water and sanitation, healthcare, education, income generation, relief, sponsorship and social welfare.
