The Ministry of Endowments (Awqaf) and Islamic Affairs announced Monday the launch of the testing phase for the resident children participating in the 30th Sheikh Jassim bin Muhammad bin Thani Noble Qur'an competition to memorise one part from the last five sections of the Holy Qur'an.
Organised by Awqaf, the event draws broader participation from citizens and residents.
The ministry said that 3,080 male and female contenders from over 40 nationalities worldwide had been registered.
The Imam Muhammad ibn Abd Al Wahhab Mosque hosts tests for male citizens and residents.
Tests for residents will continue until March 8, while the tests for male citizens will be held next week, on Saturday, Sunday, and Monday.
The tests for female residents began on Sunday, March 2, at the Women's Activity Centre in Al Wa'ab and will continue until Thursday (March 6), with the tests for Qatari women taking place on Saturday and Sunday (March 8-9).
The competition is invaluable opportunity to spur children to memorise and properly recite the Holy Qur'an, thereby contributing to instilling the Islamic precepts in their hearts.
