The Arab League commended the joint efforts made by Qatar and Egypt to reach a ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip, noting that these efforts will be significant in reaching important and positive results in continuing to implement and consolidate the agreement. In his remarks to Qatar News Agency (QNA), Assistant Secretary-General of the Arab League ambassador Hossam Zaki said that these efforts are very important and have produced important positive results so far, as they have resulted in a ceasefire and the exchange of prisoners and hostages, and this has been a success for these joint efforts.Zaki voiced his hope that those efforts would also culminate with success in the coming days and weeks, noting that the challenge is great. It seems that the Israeli side does not want to continue to adhere to all that has been previously reached, he said.Regarding the Arab Summit held in Cairo on Tuesday, Zaki stressed that this summit comes at a very important time, noting that there is now an Arab proposal that will also receive discussion and support from Islamic countries.Zaki considered this matter to be also positive, as all this support for the plan provides the Arab and Palestinian sides with an opportunity to present the counter-proposal to what the American side presented regarding the displacement of the Palestinian people, which was unanimously seen as unacceptable.
