
The Katara International Ramadan Open Classic Chess Championship, featuring 90 players from 22 countries, starts on Thursday in Katara Cultural Village in Building 15. Organised by the Qatar Chess Association (QCA), the tournament runs until March 15, comprising nine Swiss-system rounds. A total of 13 Qatari players are participating. Mohammed al-Mudahka, the QCA president, highlighted the tournament’s importance, emphasising its role in providing valuable experience for national team players. He expressed gratitude to Katara Cultural Village for their continued support, noting the tournament’s significance on the annual chess calendar, especially during Ramadan, and the participation of internationally ranked players.
