The Jordanian army announced Thursday the killing of four smugglers during a confrontation with Border Guard Forces while attempting to cross the northern borders of the country.
Jordan's Border Guard Forces engaged in a confrontation early Thursday with armed smugglers attempting to breach the northern borders of the Kingdom, within the jurisdiction of the Eastern Military Zone, Jordan news agency (Petra) said, adding that the clash resulted in the deaths of four smugglers, with the remaining members of the group retreating into Syrian territory.
Rules of engagement were applied, and the groups were repelled, leading to the confiscation of large quantities of narcotics, as well as an automatic weapon (Kalashnikov), Petra said.
The Jordanian Armed Forces reaffirm their commitment to leveraging all available resources to prevent infiltration and smuggling, ensuring the continued security and stability of the country.
