The Biennial 'Design Doha' has announced the launch of 'Marchitecture 2025,' an event running until March 25, aimed at fostering discussions that encourage idea-sharing and providing a platform for meaningful dialogue on design, heritage, and cultural sustainability.
Organised biennially by Qatar Museums, the Biennial in Doha seeks to elevate the culture of design in the Middle East and North Africa, showcasing the vibrancy of Qatar's design scene on the global stage.
This year's Marchitecture 2025 , themed "Qatar's Cultural Treasures," highlights Qatar Museums' two-decade-long efforts to preserve the nation's heritage, share its stories with the public, and nurture innovation and creativity. The program includes visits to museums, heritage sites, public art installations, creative incubators, and art collections, offering a unique opportunity to explore key milestones and achievements that have shaped Qatar's cultural landscape.
The schedule features guided tours throughout March to renowned museums, iconic heritage buildings, and contemporary creative spaces, as well as special film screenings showcasing Qatar Museums' cultural and historical contributions. Additionally, the program includes Suhoor evenings and dinner gatherings at selected venues, creating opportunities for networking within the design community in a relaxed, interactive atmosphere that blends cultural exploration with Ramadan traditions.
Highlights include a tour this evening at the Museum of Islamic Art (MIA) Park to view public art installations, including "I Live Under Your Sky Too" by Shilpa Gupta and "7" by Richard Serra. On Tuesday, March 18, participants can explore M7 and Liwan Design Studios and Labs, with an outdoor cinema screening following. The next evening features a visit to Mathaf: Arab Museum of Modern Art and "Al Mujadila: A Center and Mosque for Women."
Further events include a tour of the 3-2-1 Qatar Olympic and Sports Museum on Sunday, March 23, and a visit to the Al Zubarah Archaeological Site on Tuesday, March 25.
Marchitecture 2025 offers participants a dynamic journey through Qatar's vibrant design scene, uncovering intersections where cultural heritage preservation and creative innovation converge, shaping the architectural environment of the nation.
Notably, the program was first launched in 2018 under the Qatar Museums initiative "Culture Pass."
