Al-Mazroua Yard at the Umm Salal Central Market has seen considerably high supply of locally produced vegetables throughout the holy month of Ramadan.
This time of the year coincides with the usual peak of local agriculture production. This has also contributed to stabilising the retail prices of almost all types and varieties of vegetables, except for cucumbers, which saw a slight increase in price over the past weeks. Speaking to local Arabic daily Arrayah, some vendors at the yard explained that such increase in prices is mainly due to a limited supply of cucumbers because of the weather conditions and the cold wave that affected the country in the past period. Despite this, cucumber prices remained significantly lower at the yard compared to the prices in other commercial outlets.
The recently noted prices at Al-Mazroua Yard are: A box okra QR40; broccoli QR16; hot capsicum QR 16; cabbage QR17, and a box of cauliflower QR 28. Besides, all leafy vegetables were priced at QR3 per bundle, except for mint, which was priced at QR4. Meanwhile, tomato is priced QR 2 per kilo; lettuce was sold for QR7, green beans QR 28, radishes for QR16, squash for QR16, and sesame leaves for QR15 per box each.
The yard is open for the public daily throughout Ramadan from 6am to 3pm.
