The Ministry of Environment and Climate Change, represented by the Department of Wildlife Protection, has launched a large scale cleaning campaign at the northern desert in Umm Abiriyah.

This initiative is part of the ministry’s ongoing efforts to preserve Qatar’s environment and protect its wildlife. The campaign aimed to remove waste and litter from meadows and wilderness areas while ensuring that visitors comply with the related environmental protection laws and regulations. This initiative follows the previous efforts by the ministry, which carried out 34 cleanup campaigns in February 2024, covering the northern, central, and southern parts of the country.

This campaign included community awareness activities to promote environmental consciousness and encourage individuals to participate in maintaining the cleanliness of wilderness areas. It will also involve the removal of solid and liquid waste and ensure that no harmful practices threaten the environment and wildlife.

Accordingly, the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change stressed the importance of joint cooperation between government entities and civil society in protecting the environment. It urges all visitors to adhere to environmental laws and regulations to ensure the sustainability of natural resources for future generations.
