The Shura Council held Monday its regular weekly session, chaired by HE the Speaker Hassan bin Abdullah Al Ghanim.During the session held at the Tamim bin Hamad Hall at the Council's premises, the legislature discussed the Social Affairs, Labor, and Housing Committee's report on a proposal submitted by two Shura Council members on family upbringing and strengthening national and social identity and values among younger generations.HE Al Ghanim affirmed that family upbringing represents the fundamental pillar in building a strong and cohesive society, noting that strengthening authentic family values contributes to fortifying younger generations, consolidating national identity, and enhancing social cohesion.HE Al Ghanim also stressed the importance for various agencies to integrate efforts to ensure an educational environment that supports the principles and values upon which Qatari society is based, in line with Qatar National Vision 2030.Meanwhile, HE Chairman of the Social Affairs, Labor, and Housing Committee Abdulrahman bin Yousuf Al Khulaifi highlighted the importance of preserving authentic values and family ties by strengthening family upbringing.The proposal aims to protect Qatari society from negative influences and behaviors that contradict values, and to instill sound upbringing for children based on the foundations of religion, morality, and patriotism, His Excellency added.Their Excellencies the Council members emphasised the importance of the proposal's recommendations for strengthening family upbringing from a perspective that prioritizes the role of the family and the roles assigned to other entities in the state. They stressed the need to take the necessary measures in this regard.Following the discussions, the Council decided to submit a proposal to the esteemed government, which includes a set of recommendations aimed at boosting family values and consolidating national identity among the younger generations.Among the most important recommendations presented by the Council were allocating nurseries at various workplaces to enable mothers to care for their children in a suitable environment, with the requirement for nursery workers to complete specialized training and qualification courses on the culture, customs, traditions, and values of Qatari society.The proposal also included the need to raise awareness among nursery workers and nannies about Islamic religious values through guidelines, brochures, media awareness, and short films, translated into several languages. The proposal also included encouraging the private sector to establish specialized training centers in this field.The proposal also supports private schools by appointing qualified and trained social workers who reflect the values of Qatari society and work to monitor and guide the behavior of students and teachers to enhance the values of young people.In another context, HE the Shura Council Speaker decided to refer a draft law on ministers to the Legal and Legislative Affairs Committee for scrutiny.At the conclusion of the session, the Council heard several reports on the participation of its delegations in regional and international parliamentary events.
