

Curtains fell on the Katara International Ramadan Open Classic Chess Championship in Doha. A total of 90 players from 22 countries participated in the championship hosted by Qatar Chess Association (QCA). India’s Albin Sajan emerged champion with 7.5 points to finish ahead of Ryan Mendoza of the Philippines (7.5). India’s Chogle Sahil Prashant ended in third spot (7 points) followed by compatriot Sayed Abdul Qadir (6.5 points). Qatar’s Layan al-Qassabi finished with 6 points while his compatriot Irfan Mohammed ended with 5.5 points. Qatar’s Khaled al-Jamaat won the Best Qatari Player (Under 10) award while Abdulaziz al-Mahasneh won the Best Qatari Player award (Under 8). Mohammed al-Mudahka, President of QCA, gave away the prizes at the end of the championship.
