The Ministry of Endowments (Awqaf) and Islamic Affairs' General Directorate of Endowments announced that it would continue to care for the pre-marriage counseling program through the Endowment Bank for Family and Childhood.
Organized by the Family Consulting Center (Wifaq), the program has been running since 2019 with the intent of preparing young people from both genders for marriage based on solid scientific and educational foundations.
Addressing a press conference, Director General of the General Directorate of Endowments Eng. Hassan Abdullah Al Marzouqi emphasized that such a care is part of the strategic partnership between the General Directorate and Wifaq with the aim of qualifying a generation of young people to have a profound knowledge of the proper marriage life, thereby contributing to building a stable and tight-knit community in commensurate with the Qatar National Vision 2030.
Al Marzouqi highlighted that since its inception six years ago, the program has seen the participation of 524 young people from both genders, who significantly benefited from its professional content presented by a contingent of in-the-know experts specializing in marital relationships at the premises of Wifaq.
He pointed out that the program intends to achieve many core pillars that contribute to building stable families, as well as a secure and joyful life, including raising awareness about the basics of proper marriage, enhancing the values of honesty, understanding, and sacrifice in this relationship, in addition to providing tips, in terms of the psychological, social, economic, and health facets that would support the stability of young people and build a far more interconnected community.
The bond of marriage, which is solemnly attested to with the name of Allah, the Almighty, as stated in the Holy Qur'an (And they have taken a firm covenant from you'), implies the robustness of this relationship and its significance in building the family. This firm covenant includes the rights to companionship and marriage, along with honesty, sacrifice, understanding, and love, goals that the program strives to achieve in homes, Al Marzouqi highlighted.
He affirmed that Awqaf's support for this program comes within the framework of achieving the endowers who stipulated that the proceeds of their funds be directed toward serving the family and community, considering this type of endowment as a form of community partnership and ongoing charity based on the Prophetic Hadiths.
Al Marzouqi indicated that the bank has given foremost priority to supporting familial stability and the proper upbringing of children, stressing that family is the primary bedrock of the community. Supporting young men and women at this critical stage helps advance the nation and protect the community from disintegration.
For his part, Wifaq Executive Director Eng. Jabr Rashid Al Nuaimi said the center seeks to reinforce cooperation with strategic partners to ensure the utmost benefits for the Qatari community through implementing integrated programs that contribute to bolstering familial bonds and encouraging young people to get married.
He highlighted that the program addresses five key areas, primarily social communication between spouses and family members, psychological support for youth facing marital challenges, legal education on marital rights and duties under Islamic law, fiscal management skills for family budgeting, and health awareness for proper family planning.
He emphasized that the center also runs awareness campaigns and family harmony councils to promote marriage and strong family values.
