The UK Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) on Monday warned of the critical humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip. The Minister for the Middle East and North Africa at the FCDO, Hamish Faulkner, stressed that blocking the flow of life-saving aid to the Strip for two weeks has obstructed the provision of food, water, and healthcare to Gaza.Only 10 percent of Gazans have access to drinking water, Faulkner said, emphasizing the importance of lifting the restrictions imposed by the Israeli occupation forces immediately to ensure the delivery of aid and avert further suffering. His heads-up comes following two days of similar warnings issued by UK Foreign Secretary David Lammy, who voiced his grave concern over the horrendous situation in the Gaza Strip and stressed that the Israeli occupation forces should end the blockade on the entry of life-saving aid and electricity to the Strip. In addition, Lammy reaffirmed his support for the life-saving work of the United Nations and its mandate to assist Palestinian civilians in need.
