The Ministry of Endowments (Awqaf) and Islamic Affairs is providing aid for the treatment of 70 heart patients at the Heart Hospital under Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC).
This was announced during a press conference attended by director general of the General Directorate of Endowments engineer Hassan Abdullah al-Marzouqi and head of the Cardiothoracic Surgery Department at the Heart Hospital Dr Abdul Wahid al-Mulla.
The aid is given as part of its Nabd Endowment for patients who need urgent care and cannot afford the treatment costs.
Al-Marzouqi said there is continuing partnership with Heart Hospital, which began in 2020 under the auspices of the Healthcare Endowment Fund. “These efforts fulfil the objectives of the generous donors and reflect the Prophet's (PBUH) teachings,” he said.
Al-Mulla praised the generous support provided by the General Administration of Endowments through the Nabd Endowment, which enabled the hospital to perform numerous critical heart surgeries and implant essential medical devices for patients who were unable to afford treatment.
“The endowment also covered accommodation and treatment expenses. The total number of beneficiaries from the Nabd Endowment to date has reached 200,” he said, highlighting the importance of this co-operation in alleviating the suffering of patients and their families.
"The efforts we are making at the Heart Hospital are a practical implementation of the conditions set by our generous donors, ensuring assistance to patients who truly deserve support. The patient's case is reviewed by the Social Services Department and the Clinical Case Co-ordinators Unit," he said.
Dr al-Mulla expressed his thanks and appreciation to the generous donors who supported the endowment noting that their contributions have helped alleviate the suffering of patients and their families and given them hope for recovery.
