Qatar Charity (QC), through its office in Senegal, distributed 1,065 food parcels to families in need and individuals with special needs, thanks to the support of donors in Qatar.
This aid, part of QC’s ongoing Ramadan campaign ‘Giving Lives On’, benefited 5,325 vulnerable individuals across Pikine in the Dakar region, Louga in central Senegal, and Kolda in the south, a statement said.
The distribution was carried out in co-ordination with the Ministry of Family and Solidarity in Senegal, in the presence of officials from the Social Welfare Department of the Senegalese Ministry of Health, which focuses on charitable work in the country, particularly by supporting vulnerable groups and people with special needs.
The food aid is aimed to provide essential support to needy families, enabling them to prepare daily Iftar meals during Ramadan and alleviate their hardships.
The Governor of Louga Region, Mar, commended the initiative, and emphasised its vital role in meeting the needs of vulnerable families, allowing them to fast with ease during Ramadan, while fostering a strong spirit of solidarity during this month of compassion and generosity.
The beneficiaries conveyed their deep appreciation for the food parcels, acknowledging their crucial role in providing essential Ramadan support, the statement added.
