HE Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani, Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, chaired the weekly Cabinet meeting today.
After the meeting, HE Ibrahim bin Ali Al Mohannadi, Minister of Justice and Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs, said that Cabinet began their session by reiterating their strong condemnation of the Israeli occupation for resuming their aggression against the Gaza Strip. The Cabinet characterised these actions as a direct challenge to international consensus and a clear violation of the existing ceasefire agreement. The Cabinet cautioned that Israel’s continuing pattern of escalation would inevitably heighten tensions throughout the region.
The Cabinet highlighted the dire humanitarian crisis unfolding in Gaza, describing conditions that have deteriorated beyond catastrophic levels and that it demands immediate international intervention to safeguard the Palestinian population. The statement emphasised the critical importance of reviving diplomatic dialogue to fully implement the ceasefire agreement, which would end hostilities in Gaza, ensure reliable delivery of humanitarian assistance, and establish proper conditions for rebuilding according to the Gaza Reconstruction Plan formally adopted at the Arab Summit, which was held in Cairo on March 4, 2025.
From there, the Cabinet took note of the Shura Council’s approval of a draft law on supporting innovation and scientific research. The draft law aims to foster a culture of creativity, innovation and scientific research among citizens. It seeks to raise awareness about the importance of scientific research and technology as fundamental pillars for progress and development. The legislation intends to support comprehensive development plans while ensuring scientific research addresses the specific local needs and challenges facing society.
The Cabinet also approved a draft law on the Owners Association and referred it to the Shura Council. The draft law aims to regulate property management and maintain common areas shared by owners within a single property. It also requires unit owners in shared properties to establish an association through which they can collectively make decisions. This association aims to establish an environment that caters to the owners’ needs and protects their shared interests thus minimising potential conflicts that may arise between them.
The Cabinet also decided to approve a draft contribution agreement between the Qatar Fund For Development (QFFD) and the United Nations Children’s Fund to improve education, health and hygiene in Pinar del Río province in Cuba in 2025; a draft core contribution agreement between QFFD and the International Labour Organization (ILO) to support the ILO’s program and budget and a draft memorandum of understanding (MoU) on political consultations on matters of shared interest between the State of Qatar’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade in Jamaica.
At the meeting’s conclusion, the Cabinet reviewed three reports, taking the appropriate decisions thereon. These included a report on the Coordination Committee Between Entities Operating at Hamad International Airport’s work from 1 April-30 September 2024; a report on the State of Qatar’s participation in the Global Labor Market Conference, headed by HE the Minister of Labour, and a report on the State of Qatar’s participation, headed by HE the Minister of Commerce and Industry, in the Ministerial Meeting to sign Qatar’s accession to the Integrated Industrial Partnership for Sustainable Economic Development.
