The Shura Council held Monday its regular weekly session, chaired by HE the Speaker Hassan bin Abdullah Al Ghanim.At the beginning of the session at the Tamim bin Hamad Hall at the Council's premises, the legislature expressed its strong condemnation of the Israeli occupation's resumption of its brutal aggression on the Gaza Strip and its continued perpetration of crimes against the Palestinian people, killing innocent victims, including children and women, in flagrant violation of all international and humanitarian laws and conventions.The Council affirmed that these brutal attacks represent a blatant challenge to international efforts seeking to achieve peace and a deliberate undermining of all efforts aimed at achieving a ceasefire and protecting civilians.It stressed that the occupation's aggressive policies will only escalate the situation and increase the suffering of the Palestinian people, which requires urgent and decisive action to ensure the protection of the Palestinian people and halt the ongoing violations against them.The Shura Council reiterated the State of Qatar's firm and supportive position on the just Palestinian cause and the inalienable right of the Palestinian people to self-determination and the establishment of their independent state on the 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital, in accordance with the Arab Peace Initiative and relevant international legitimacy resolutions.During the session, the Council approved a draft law on ministers and referred it to the esteemed government, after debating the Legal and Legislative Affairs Committee's report.Separately, the session reviewed a report on the Council's participation in the meeting of the General Assembly and the Administrative Board of the Coalition of Women MPs from Arab Countries to Combat Violence against Women, which was held via videoconference in June 2024.The Council also discussed a report on its delegation's participation in the Fourth Parliamentary Policy Dialogue on Countering the Use of AI and New Technologies for Terrorist Purposes and the Sixth Meeting of the Counter-Terrorism Coordination Mechanism for Parliamentary Assemblies, both held in Rome in December 2024.
