The Iftar tent by the Ministry of Endowments (Awqaf) and Islamic Affairs at Al Khor is witnessing a large turnout of people during Ramadan.
Approximately 1,200 persons are provided with Iftar meals, bringing the total number of beneficiaries throughout the holy month to 36,000, an Awqaf statement said.
This meal is provided as of the “Iftar Saem” project, one of the most important endowment initiatives aimed at providing food to fasting persons while fostering the spirit of social solidarity.
Awqaf is providing 300,000 Iftar meals at various locations during Ramadan.
The committee overseeing the project is committed to ensuring the provision of comprehensive meals according to the highest quality standards while also providing comfortable and air-conditioned spaces for those breaking their fast.
Awqaf, through its Iftar Saem Committee, works to provide an ideal environment that facilitates the smooth distribution of meals while ensuring the comfort and safety of those fasting.
This project reflects the Islamic values of helping those in need and alleviating the burden of providing and preparing iftar meals during Ramadan embodying the spirit of giving and compassion in society.
The project also features faith-based and awareness programmes aimed at familiarising the beneficiaries with their religion and promoting true Islamic values.
Lectures are delivered by preachers from Sheikh Abdullah bin Zaid Al Mahmoud Islamic Cultural Centre (Fanar) in Urdu.
These lectures educate workers about the rules of fasting, the virtues of Ramadan, the importance of reading the Holy Qur'an, contemplating its verses and understanding its meanings as well as the importance of the obligatory prayer and its great value in Islam and the values of social solidarity.
Awqaf expressed its gratitude and appreciation to the benefactors and supporters who are keen to contribute to this charitable project, stressing that their continued support contributes to providing Iftar meals to thousands of fasting persons every day.
The project represents a model of integrated charitable work as it goes beyond providing food; it extends to spreading the correct Islamic culture among workers and instilling the values of compassion and social solidarity.
The project also provides a great opportunity to guide those fasting toward an understanding of moderate Islam and to build a cohesive community characterised by co-operation and love in a faith-based atmosphere brimming with the spirit of the holy month.
