The Military Secondary School, affiliated with the Ministry of Defence, has merged with Qatar Leadership Academy, part of Qatar Foundation’s (QF) Pre-University Education.
Together, they will form a unified institutional entity under the name Qatar Leadership Academy (QLA).
This integration reflects the commitment of QF and the Ministry of Defence (MoD) to enhancing the quality of education and training by offering a comprehensive learning experience that combines academic excellence with advanced military training. It also embodies a shared strategic vision to prepare a generation of competent and well-equipped leaders ready to tackle future challenges, by providing a holistic educational and training environment that empowers students to excel across various fields.
This will introduce new subjects, such as Artificial Intelligence and Cybersecurity, in the coming phase. This will align with technological advancements and meet the evolving demands of the job market. In addition, the merger establishes two independent academies - one for the preparatory level and one for the secondary level – which will each specialise in their respective stage while working together to enhance education, leadership, and military training. This innovative model exemplifies the strategic collaboration between QF and the MoD, contributing to the development of exceptional leaders according to the highest academic, leadership, and military standards.
In the coming years, QLA aims to expand its capacity to accommodate more students while maintaining excellence in educational outcomes. It also seeks to enhance graduates' opportunities for admission to top global universities and leading military institutions, ensuring the development of distinguished leaders capable of shaping a sustainable future for Qatar.
QLA is committed to the highest international educational standards, holds academic accreditation from the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools, and maintains membership in the Council of International Schools. It also implements AERO and NGSS standards, which ensure a globally competitive learning environment.
Jameel Katem al-Shammari, general director QLA, said: "This integration marks a pivotal step in the academy’s journey as we strive to provide a comprehensive learning environment that empowers our students to achieve the highest levels of academic excellence, leadership, and military discipline.
"QLA is moving towards a promising future, striving to establish itself as a leading educational and training institution in leadership development, adhering to the highest academic and military standards. This approach aims to achieve strategic integration that enhances the quality of education and training, equipping students with the confidence and competence to tackle future challenges," he added.
