Ambassador of Qatar to Austria and its Permanent Representative to the United Nations and international organisations in Vienna, Jassim bin Yacoub al-Hammadi announced Qatar Fund for Development’s (QFFD) contribution to the Innovation and Transformation Fund (ITF) of the United Nations Industrial Development Organisation (UNIDO) during his meeting with Director-General of UNIDO, Gerd Muller.
The contribution will enable UNIDO to enhance its capacities in the areas of innovation, advisory services, digitalisation and talent development, as to foster sustainable industrial development and promote inclusive economic growth in developing countries. Ambassador al-Hammadi reaffirmed Qatar’s commitment to supporting international organisations and strengthening multilateral co-operation, highlighting the country’s interest in UNIDO’s activities and its readiness to further expand co-operation in the future.
For his part, the director-general of UNIDO expressed his gratitude to QFFD for providing the necessary funding that will help strengthen UNIDO’s core functions and increase the scale and impact of its operations, encouraging other partners to follow the Qatari pioneering model.
