Eid al-Fitr celebrations kicked off at Old Doha Port Sunday with cultural performances by a traditional maritime band at Al Bandar, drawing large crowds to the Mina District for the start of the eight-day festivities.

Organisers noted that these activities, set to run until April 5, offer a dynamic and engaging experience for Qatar residents and visitors, designed to immerse attendees in the spirit of Eid.

The Mina District has been transformed into a hub of activity, with live music from various artists scheduled throughout the Eid holidays.

A diverse range of attractions and activations also take place at Mina Park, running daily from 4pm-10pm.

According to the organisers, the celebration aims to create a vibrant atmosphere that reflects the joy and unity of Eid, providing an array of activities that display Qatari heritage and provide entertainment for the whole family.

Visitors will have ample opportunity to engage with Qatari culture through interactive activities and musical artistry.

Families can enjoy a variety of entertainment, including games, play areas, and special performances such as the Bubble Sand Show and the Ice Cream Show.

The Mega Park Carnival, which opened on March 27 and running until April 5, continues to be a major draw, offering thrilling entertainment, live shows, fun games, giant inflatables, and a bazaar.

The carnival remains open from 4pm to midnight.

Food lovers are also in for a treat, with the numerous restaurants, eateries, and cafes lining the Mina District serving different cuisines.

These establishments are proving to be a popular haven for families and friends to gather and enjoy the festive atmosphere.

“Enjoy the mesmerising melodies of the qanun, oud, and saxophone, alongside the rhythms of a traditional band at Al Bandar. With a vibrant atmosphere and festive energy, it’s the perfect place to celebrate Eid and make unforgettable memories with loved ones,” Old Doha Port said on its website.

The Box Park, already renowned for its panoramic views of the Mina District, Grand Terminal, mega cruise ships and luxury yachts, saw high visitor numbers.

Many were seen taking leisurely strolls, while others took the opportunity to visit Flag Plaza.

Old Doha Port’s Grand Terminal, with its docked cruise ships carrying thousands of passengers, provides a picturesque backdrop for the entire Mina District, further enhancing the festive ambiance.
