The United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) announced Tuesday that at least 322 children have been killed in the Gaza Strip over the past 10 days since the Israeli entity resumed its aggression on Gaza on March 18, following a two-month hiatus.

A UNICEF statement said that the collapse of the ceasefire and the resumption of heavy shelling and ground operations in the Gaza Strip have resulted in the death of at least 322 children and the injury of 609 others, an average of more than 100 children killed or maimed every day over the past 10 days.

It added that most of these children were displaced and had taken refuge in temporary tents or damaged homes, noting that these numbers include children killed or injured in the airstrike on the emergency department of Nasser Hospital in Khan Yunis, in the southern Gaza Strip.

UNICEF Executive Director Catherine Russell said that the ceasefire provided a much-needed lifeline for Gaza's children, adding that the suffering of children in Gaza has begun again due to the ongoing Israeli bombardment of the Strip.

The Israeli occupation resumed its aggression on the Gaza Strip at dawn on March 18, after a two-month pause under a ceasefire agreement that came into effect on January 19. However, the occupation violated the terms of the ceasefire over the course of the two months, and continued its bombing of various areas in the Gaza Strip, causing casualties and injuries.
