The Meqdam Shooting Championship 2025 will kick off Thursday at the Lusail Shooting Range Complex.

The event organized by the National Service Academy in cooperation with the Qatar Shooting and Archery Federation and the Military Sports Association, runs from April 10 to 26 with the participation of 2000 National Service graduates.

The details of the championship have been revealed at a press conference attended by Military Sports Association President Brigadier General Dr. Yousef Desmal Al Kuwari, President of the National Service Academy Brigadier General Salem Masoud Al Hababi and Qatar Shooting and Archery Association Secretary-General Jassim Shaheen Al Sulaiti.

Al Kuwari hailed the first edition as an exceptional event that is hoped to reflect positively on the future of shooting.

He also thanked HE Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for Defense Affairs Sheikh Saoud bin Abdulrahman bin Hassan bin Ali Al-Thani for launching such important sporting initiatives.

Meanwhile, Al Hababi praised the event as a strategic pillar for enhancing military spirit, developing recruits' skills, and unifying their efforts under the banner of fair competition.

He added that the idea of holding a military championship in the National Service aims primarily to maintain communication with National Service recruits.

Qatar Shooting and Archery Association Secretary-General Jassim Shaheen Al Sulaiti, who is also the championship director, said the event seeks to discover Qatari talents to support the national teams.

He voiced hopes that this tournament will be held annually and further boosts cooperation between military and sports institutions in the country.

The championship will be held in three competitions: the 25-meter 9mm pistol competition, the 100-meter Beretta rifle competition, and the sporting shotgun competition.

Significant cash prizes totaling QR 3.5 million have been allocated to the tournament winners. The first-place winner in each competition will receive a cash prize of QR 500,000, while the second-place winner will receive QR 250,000. The third-place winner will receive QR 100,000. Position from fourth to tenth place will receive a cash prize of QR 20,000, and each from 11th to 13th place will receive a cash prize of QR 10,000 each.
