Qatar’s rising chess talent Khaled al-Jumaat won two bronze medals at the International School Games (ISF) U15 Gymnasiade 2025 in Zlatibor, Serbia, delivering a standout performance in both the rapid and blitz formats of the under-12 category.

Al-Jumaat secured third place in both events, which featured 32 players from 17 countries, marking a significant achievement for Qatar on the international school chess stage.

In the under-15 category, Hamad al-Kuwari also impressed, finishing eighth in the rapid competition. His performance earned him 116 rating points, reflecting his rapid improvement and potential for future international success.

President of the Qatar Chess Association (QCA), Mohammed al-Mudahka, expressed his pride in the team’s achievements. Speaking to Qatar News Agency (QNA), he said: “Winning two bronze medals in such a competitive tournament is a proud moment for Qatari school sports. Khaled and Hamad represented the country with skill and determination.”

He added that the Qatari team made a strong impression at one of the premier international school championships, and that this result is the fruit of the QCA’s continuous investment in developing young national talent.

“We have placed great emphasis on international participation in recent years,” al-Mudahka noted. “These efforts are paying off, as we see our players consistently improving and competing at a high level globally.”
