Most Gaza hospitals shutMedics describe burns and injuries Israel's sudden onslaught of air strikes overnight overwhelmed Gaza hospitals already reeling from weeks of an aid blockade, medics and health authorities said on Tuesday, as ambulances ferried in hundreds of badly injured survivors. Video obtained by Reuters showed rescue workers running with stretchers across smoking debris, ambulances rushing to hospitals, a morgue full of bloodied bodies in white bags, and casualties lying outside while relatives mourned the dead. "We received no less than 400 cases in less than two hours," said Mohammad Qishta, a Medicins Sans Frontieres emergency doctor working at Nasser Hospital in Khan Younis. "There were some serious cases such as burns ... third degree burns on the face, amputations, wounds on the head, wounds on the chest," he said. Gaza health authorities issued an urgent statement on Tuesday asking residents to donate blood, saying stocks of different blood types had been exhausted. Although a ceasefire came into effect in January, talks to transition to a second phase of the agreement stalled in February. Israel announced it was cutting off all aid, including medical supplies, into Gaza on March 2 over a dispute with Hamas on the next phase of the deal. "The entry of all goods and supplies to the Gaza Strip will be halted," Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's office said at the time. Tuesday morning's airstrikes, which Palestinian health authorities said killed more than 400 people, took place across the tiny, crowded Gaza Strip where the war has left most people homeless. Jasarevic said the shortage of medicines meant even in working hospitals medics might not be able to provide treatment. "The occupation did not allow the entry of medical equipment, devices and very necessary medical consumables to maintain what remains of the health system and functioning hospitals," Gaza hospitals director Mohammed Zaqout said. The International Federation of the Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies, which works with rescue and health services in Gaza, said its team in the territory had reported on Tuesday that medical facilities were overwhelmed. "The situation is rapidly deteriorating, even before the recent developments, because since the beginning of March we didn't get any other aid, any other medicine," the federation's spokesperson Tommaso Della Longa said. Even reaching casualties is more difficult because of damage to ambulances and a lack of fuel, said Shaina Low of the Norwegian Refugee Council, which is suspending most operations in Gaza because of the danger from strikes. "We've already seen the suspension of 20 ambulances in Gaza because of lack of petrol. We're going to see hospitals shutting down," she added.

European Council chief Antonio Costa on Tuesday called for an end to the renewed violence in Gaza, after Israel unleashed its most intense strikes since a truce established two months ago."Shocked and saddened by the news coming from Gaza and the many civilian casualties following the Israeli airstrikes last night," said Costa, who heads the body representing the bloc's 27 states."Violence must stop and the terms of the ceasefire agreement must be respected. Egypt's Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources announced Tuesday that several people were killed and others were injured when a workers' transportation bus collided with a fuel Tanker on a road near the oil fields in the Western Desert.In a statement, the ministry emphasized that firefighter and ambulance vehicles from oil companies near the accident site were deployed and transported the injured to Marsa Matrouh Hospital.It pointed out that an emergency committee was formed to conduct a site inspection and determine the causes of the accident, in addition to providing the families of the deceased and injured with full support and following up on their cases.

The town of Beit Hanoun, in the northern Gaza Strip, has witnessed a mass exodus of thousands of Palestinians toward the adjacent town of Jabalia in search of safe shelter, in the wake of the resumption of the Israeli offensive in the Strip.The occupation forces issued an order to the residents to evacuate Beit Hanoun, as well as the towns of Khuzaa, Abasan al-Kabira, and Abasan al-Jadida in the south, and head to the areas west of Gaza City and Khan Younis in the southern part of the Gaza Strip.Medical sources in Gaza reported that the death toll from the Israeli shelling in various parts of Gaza reached 326 martyrs, mostly women and children who were sent to Gaza hospitals, while 660 others were injured, with several victims still trapped in bombed-out buildings.At dawn on Tuesday , the Israeli occupation forces resumed their onslaught on Gaza by launching a series of intense airstrikes and fire belts on multiple areas across the Strip.Since Oct.7, 2023, the unprecedented Israeli aggression against the Palestinian enclave killed over 48,572 Palestinians, mostly women and children, and the injury of 112,032 others, while several victims are trapped under the rubble.

The death toll from the intense airstrikes carried out by the Israeli occupation forces on the Gaza Strip early Tuesday has risen to over 230 martyrs, with dozens of wounded, most of them children and women. Meanwhile, others remain under the rubble of targeted homes.A correspondent from Qatar News Agency (QNA) reported that hospitals in the Gaza Strip are receiving dozens of martyrs' remains around the clock, as Israeli airstrikes continue in various parts of Gaza.Medical sources noted that around 60 martyrs were killed in the Israeli bombing of areas in southern Gaza. Furthermore, five martyrs, including two children, and dozens of injured individuals, were transported to the Kuwait Field Hospital after the Israeli bombing of several displacement tents in the Mawasii Khan Younis area.These sources also reported that 15 martyrs, including five children, and more than 20 injured individuals were brought to a hospital in Gaza City. Additionally, 14 martyrs were received at Al-Awda Hospital after airstrikes hit two tents in southern Gaza, along with more than 70 wounded, some in critical condition, who were injured from Israeli bombings on homes in the Nuseirat and Al-Bureij refugee camps in central Gaza Strip.At Al-Awda Hospital in Tel al-Zaatar in the Jabalia refugee camp, eight martyrs, including six children, and dozens of injured individuals arrived due to airstrikes on homes in northern Gaza. Several martyrs were also reported as a result of Israeli airstrikes on homes in the town of Abasan al-Kabira, east of Khan Younis, in addition to the bombing of displacement tents in the Mawasi area.Several people were martyred, and others were injured after Israeli airstrikes targeted a school sheltering displaced people in Al-Daraj neighborhood in central Gaza City, as well as three houses in the Tel al-Hawa neighborhood.For its part, civil defense sources in Gaza stated that there have been repeated calls to rescue people trapped under the rubble of homes destroyed by Israeli airstrikes. The rescue teams, however, are unable to respond to these calls due to the lack of necessary equipment.
