RasGas shared its ‘steps for success’ at the MEED Qatar Projects 2011, as company’s venture group manager Nafez Bseiso delivered a key address on the opening day on Tuesday, a spokesperson said.
The two-day MEED Qatar Projects 2011 concluded yesterday.
Bseiso’s presentation, which was entitled "The Power of the Vision”, outlined RasGas’ and Qatar’s success in the arena of liquefied natural gas (LNG).
"By 2010, RasGas in partnership with its sister company Qatargas,  has played a significant role in realising the vision of HH the Emir, to reach 77mn tonnes of LNG and become the world’s largest and most reliable producer of LNG,”  Bseiso said.
According the official, the ‘economic development’ pillar that forms part of Qatar National Vision 2030 places a tremendous emphasis on the benefit of natural gas, which provides a major source of clean energy for Qatar and for the world.
"It is expected that by 2015 RasGas will have achieved 1,800% growth in production capacity, which will be a remarkable achievement,” he said.
RasGas began it’s first production in 1999.
"Because of RasGas’ enviable reputation, we were entrusted to develop the Barzan gas project, one of the largest gas infrastructure projects in the region. It will increase RasGas’ production capacity by a further 1.9bn cubic ft per day which will take our total capacity to approximately 11bn cubic ft by 2015,” he added.
