Among other outlets, the new shopping mall includes a 2,000-plant strong vertically built garden, rich in tropical plants.
The mall developers hoped that the opening of the mall at a centrally located place as Al Mamoura would help the place regain its earlier glory as a high-end business location in Doha.
“Al Mamoura is considered to be one of the most centrally located places in the city with excellent connectivity to most places in Doha,” said Parco Group general manager Monsy Thomas.
The official said along with providing shopping convenience to its customers, the mall would also receive non-business visitors looking at entertainment and recreational options for their families.
One of the major attractions of the place is its food court, the first phase of which is already started. It would have about a dozen multi-cuisine eateries, offering Arabic, Chinese, Continental, Mediterranean and Indian delicacies.
Replying to a query on the reason for setting up a mall close to a major traffic inter-section, the promoters said the same location earlier housed a number of successful independent outlets, and each of which was a household name among the city residents during their salad days. “And our studies have found that the place is perhaps frequented more by the locals than most other business locations in the city,” said Thomas.
Along with the kids’ entertainment zone and 58 other outlets, the mall’s major attraction would be the high-end super market run by anchor tenants, Food World, said the group
official.
Doha Bank’s e-branch would shortly commence operations at the complex. So also is a branch of money exchange Al Dar for Exchange Works.
The place also features Qtel’s counter, laundries, travel agency, pharmacy, beauty salons, ladies and kids fashion and accessories shop and a bookstore.
As part of the inaugural ceremony, the mall developers are also planning an eight-day festival for the country’s children, featuring singing, painting and a host of other fun-filled shows.
While the mall’s main developer is prominent local entrepreneur Abdul Rahman al-Ansari, who is the chairman of a number of local companies, Dubai-based Indian businessman P A Rahman is the chairman of the Parco Group, which is managing the mall.
Besides Thomas, board member of the Parco Group Mohamed Parakkal, managing director Abdul Raheem and promoter PK Shameem also spoke.
