“We make a promise today to keep-up our commitment to the community and the environment and aim to achieve long-term sustainable results in these key areas,” Mohamed al-Mulla, vice chairman and CEO of Qapco, said receiving the excellence awards at the 20th World Petroleum Congress (WPC) currently being held at the Qatar National Convention Centre.
The award was presented to al-Mulla by HE Abdullah bin Hamad al-Attiyah, deputy prime minister and chairman of Emiri Diwan.
More than 100 proposals were reviewed by the independent judging panel with Qapco winning the World Petroleum Council Excellence awards for technological developments and shortlisted for the award of social responsibility in the small to medium sized category. He said the WPC selection committee had recognised the company for developing and implementing innovative and wide-ranging social responsibility and technical initiatives that had been of benefit to the citizens within the local community and would also have an impact on the environment.
This exclusive award is organised every three years at the WPC with the objective being to honour outstanding projects and initiatives within the oil and gas sector. The petrochemical company had also been honoured this year at the 11th Annual Qatarisation Review meeting organised by the energy and industry sector, where it won two awards, the Crystal Award for ‘Support and Liaison with the Education Sector’ category and the certificate for the most improved company in the ‘Support for Training and Development Sector’.
In May, Qapco was also selected as the “Most Admired Company in Human Capital Management” at the GCC HR Excellence awards in Dubai 2011.
