The 60th Anniversary Diamond Edition Nissan Patrol
Saleh Al Hamad Al Mana Company has showcased an impressive line-up of Nissan vehicles at the Second International Edition of Qatar Motor Show, which opens to the public today.
The 60th Anniversary Diamond Edition Patrol, the all-new Sunny and the Titan pickup are among the star attractions of the Nissan pavilion at Doha Exhibition Centre.
The star of the stand is the Diamond Edition Nissan Patrol which marks the 60th production year of Nissan’s globally acclaimed ‘Hero of All Terrain.’
Underlining the breadth of its product range, the Nissan pavilion also presents the refreshed Murano, the new Juke compact crossover other models.
Speaking at the motor show, Hisham al-Mana, chairman of Saleh Al Hamad Al Mana, reinforced his company’s and Nissan’s commitment to the Qatar market in providing world-class products and delivering a total ownership experience to customers.
“We are also pleased to have the highest market share for Nissan across the region and are confident that we will further consolidate the strong performance of Nissan brand in Qatar and the region as a whole,” he said.
Syed Ahmed, general manager marketing at Nissan Middle East, described Qatar Motor Show as a premium automotive exhibition at which Nissan is delighted to be able to display such a broad range of innovative and exciting models for its customers and fans.
“The iconic Nissan Patrol is embedded in the region’s heritage and the ‘60th Anniversary Diamond Edition’ adds further to its appeal while Juke and now Titan underline Nissan’s commitment to providing the Middle East with an unrivalled line-up of vehicles.”
“All-new Sunny has gained wide acclaim in the markets where it has already been launched and we look forward to building on that success as it becomes available to the people of the Middle East shortly,” he said.
Nissan Patrol’s ‘60th Diamond Edition’ features a unique colour scheme – ‘New Pearl Black’ – leather interior with Patrol logo and ‘60th Diamond Edition’ emblems.
The Nissan’s Chrome Package (door mirror, door under protector, rear bumper protector, fog lamp finisher, and illuminated kick plate) is standard.
The 60th Diamond Edition’s features add to the already substantial equipment levels of the base models on which it can be ordered.
The top option SE, with its 317bhp 5.6-litre V8 engine, offers satellite navigation, Bluetooth and iPod connectivity, 8-in LCD display in the front and DVD system for rear passengers.
The flagship top option LE, with 400bhp 5.6-litre V8 and 7-speed automatic transmission adds Advanced Safety Shield including Lane Departure Warning and Prevention, Intelligent Cruise Control with Distance Control Assist and Intelligent Brake Assist.
Roof rails are an added attraction of the 60th Anniversary Diamond Edition Nissan Patrol, which has been engineered to take on the toughest conditions while offering passengers the highest level of luxury.
“This is why it the new Nissan Patrol has received more awards and accolades than any other SUV in the region,” al-Mana pointed out.
Wanting to build the best possible Patrol to beat the competition, engineers first tuned and tested 200 prototypes for dynamic evaluation at the company’s Motegi, Oppama and Tochigi proving grounds in Japan before sending them to the Middle East where they were exposed to every imaginable challenge; desert, rocky surfaces, highways and inner-city traffic, Ahmed recalled.
A further programme of tests was then carried out by Nissan engineers between early 2008 to the end of 2009, in the tough terrain areas close to the UAE and Saudi border.
More than 40 Japanese engineers completed a total of 13,265 hours of testing in the region to assess the vehicle’s performance and durability.
The new Sunny is pegged as a ‘Big Small Car’ that brings innovation within reach. Small on the outside, but big on the inside, the car breaks new ground for entry-level compact sedans with its blend of smart technology, next-generation efficiency and generous cabin space.
The Sunny’s interior volume of 90.0 cu ft and trunk volume of 14.8 cu ft (104.8 cu ft total) offers more rear legroom than some mid-size sedans – trumping even some luxury cars.
Its exterior styling is also a departure from most rivals, offering a refreshing design character that is both sophisticated and highly aerodynamic.
The designers gave the exterior shape a strong sense of volume, with wide ‘shoulders’, flowing curves and a smooth silhouette. At the front, the Sunny features Nissan’s new signature sedan grille design and jewel-like headlights.
The front end blends smoothly into the cabin, while design elements such as the shape of the trunk lid help give the Sunny excellent aerodynamics, as seen by it’s low coefficient of drag of just 0.31.
Innovation extends under the hood with the 1.5-litre engine featuring next-generation, dual injector technology. The second-generation 1.5-litre HR15DE 4-cylinder engine is equipped with two streamlined injectors mounted near the inlet valve for each cylinder.
This dual injector system allows a wider injection of fuel, with the smaller nozzles delivering a finer spray (approximately 57% better than the previous generation single injector design’s particle size) to help achieve stable combustion.  The result is impressive fuel efficiency.
The powerful, full-size Nissan Titan has established an outstanding reputation as a rugged, reliable, spirited choice for active truck buyers seeking style, innovation and excellent value.
The newest member of Nissan’s Crossover family, Juke, is a distinctive combination of SUV toughness and sporting style, like its big brothers.
The iconic Nissan 370Z Coupe and Roadster remain two of the most vibrant and dynamic sports cars available, featuring unique performance and design attributes.
Powered by a 332hp 3.7-liter DOHC V6 engine with Variable Valve Event and Lift Control (VVEL), transmission choice lies between a 6-speed manual transmission with SynchroRev Match which automatically blips the throttle on downshifts, or a 7-speed automatic transmission with manual shift mode, paddle shifters and Downshift Rev Matching. Crisp handling is provided by a refined double-wishbone front and multi-link rear suspension.
