The Hope Exhibition, which has attracted 22,000 people so far to the Sheraton Park on the Corniche, has been extended until December 18.
Launched in November by World Innovation Summit for Education (Wise) chairman Sheikh Dr Abdulla bin Ali al-Thani and renowned photojournalist Reza, the exhibition showcases 80 of the latter’s works from around the world.
Describing the Wise initiative as a call to action to the world and to everyone in Qatar, Sheikh Dr Abdulla al-Thani said the crowds visiting the Hope Exhibition prove that the arts are an excellent way to bring people together for a common goal.
This week, Reza will be hosting additional activities to continue the educational programme accompanying the exhibition.
Reza will be at the Qatar Photographic Society, near Al Arabi Sports Club today from 7pm to 9pm to review the portfolios of amateur and student photographers.
The focus of the workshop will be on the photographer’s responsibility in facing his subject and shooting methodology.
Also happening today, in co-ordination with the Institute Français, will be a guided tour of the Hope Exhibition by Reza and an unveiling of the book Algeria, a work on which he collaborated with Algerian author Yasmina Khadra.
Tomorrow, Virginia Commonwealth University in Qatar will be presenting the ‘Power of Images,’ a lecture and debate with Reza, open to the general public.
